Michael Epstein is on the architectural design team at Seibert Architects in Sarasota. He is a contemporary advocate of modernist design principles.
Epstein was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. In 1986, he received a bachelor’s degree in architecture and graduated with honors from the University of Louisiana. Later that year, he became a practicing architect in Sarasota. He has been with Seibert Architects since 1990. Epstein’s range of projects include schools, resort facilities, restaurants, office and commercial buildings, churches, multi-family dwellings and private residences. His design philosophy reveals the profound impact of the early work of Seibert Architects, and other luminaries of the Sarasota School of mid-century modernist design. Epstein’s architecture celebrates the interplay of solid and void, the relationship between indoor and outdoor space, and the sculptural and expressive qualities of form. His work focuses on shaping the experience of the user; his style seeks out the magical moments created by the interplay of light, form and surface. The result is an articulate architecture, designed for a human scale, and utilizing the bold, powerful, abstract forms of modernist expression.
Epstein has been a guest juror for the University of Florida School of Architecture, Graduate Design Program. His projects have been showcased in a host of publications. Epstein’s work has earned Seibert Architects six AIA design awards over the past few years.
